The BenQ Single Monitor Arm is built to securely hold your monitor and accessories, making it a versatile and reliable choice. Before you buy, here are a few important things to check:

  1. Is Your Monitor VESA Compatible?
  2. Do You Have Enough Space Between Your Desk and the Wall?
  3. Does Your Tabletop Material Require a Reinforcement Plate?
  4. Is Your Tabletop Thickness Within the Clamp’s Supported Range?
  5. Is Your Desk Edge Shape Suitable for Clamping?
  6. Are There Any Obstructions Under Your Desk?
1. Is Your Monitor VESA Compatible?

The BenQ Single Monitor Arm supports the most common 100x100mm and 75x75mm VESA mount standards, making it compatible with most monitors.

Exceptions to Watch Out For:

Unique VESA Designs – Some monitors, such as Samsung G9, Acer Predator, and ASUS ROG, often feature unique VESA mounting designs. These typically require custom adapter plates, which may be included with the monitor or need to be purchased separately, so double-check before installation.

Recessed VESA Mounts – Some 75x75mm VESA mounts are deeply recessed into the monitor’s back panel, which may cause compatibility issues.

2. Do You Have Enough Space Between Your Desk and the Wall?

If at least 5 cm of space is behind your desk, you can likely use the clamp mount without issues. Clamp mounting is the most flexible option if your desk thickness falls within the clamp’s supported range. It requires no drilling and allows for easy repositioning—making it the recommended installation method.

3. Does Your Tabletop Material Require a Reinforcement Plate?

Certain materials may not support standard monitor mounts well and risk damage:

  • Glass table tops
  • Hollow-core table tops (e.g., honeycomb cardboard desks)
  • Desktops prone to denting

To prevent damage, the BenQ Single Monitor Arm includes a reinforcement plate, which helps distribute clamp pressure evenly. It can be used on glass surfaces and prevents indentations. The combined thickness of the top and bottom plates is about 5 mm, but you can use just one plate if needed.

4. Is Your Tabletop Thickness Within the Clamp’s Supported Range?

The BenQ Single Monitor Arm clamp fits tabletops between 1.7 cm and 5 cm thick. If using a reinforcement plate, the supported range is 1.2 cm to 4.5 cm.

5. Is Your Desk Edge Shape Suitable for Clamping?

The desk edge should be flat within the first 2.5 cm (1 inch). If the edge is beveled or rounded and exceeds 2.5 cm (1 inch), it may reduce clamp stability.

6. Are There Any Obstructions Under Your Desk?

Check for structures, such as support beams within 5 cm of the desk edge.

If an under-desk structure is within 5 cm of the desk edge, but the total height of the structure + tabletop thickness is within the clamp’s supported range, you can place a wood block of equal or greater height to create a stable clamping surface.

If the obstruction exceeds the clamp’s supported range, check if your desk has a grommet hole.

If the grommet hole diameter is larger than 9 cm, you can still install the clamp through it, or opt for a grommet mount installation. (Grommet mounting allows you to use a reinforcement plate, but it must be flipped during installation.)

Installation notes:

Feed cables through the grommet hole before installing the base to avoid clearance issues.

The reinforcement plate can still be used, but it should be flipped so that the raised side faces up. Apply the protective pad to the side that touches the desk surface.

If the grommet hole is between 1.2 cm and 9 cm, grommet mounting is still possible, but the hole will no longer be usable for cable routing.

If there’s no grommet hole:

Consider drilling a hole in the desk for installation. (You can use the included reinforcement plate to mark the hole position before drilling.)

If your desk has no grommet hole and you don’t want to drill one, the BenQ Single Monitor Arm will not be compatible. In this case, you may need a freestanding monitor stand, which comes with a stable base that sits directly on the desk. However, keep in mind that this option takes up more desk space.

All Set? Now it's time to order your BenQ Single Monitor Arm and enjoy a clutter-free desk in no time!
