What Should My Video Game Room Have?

1. Space:
The space you have available depends on where you live. If you have a cozy studio apartment, then a corner or a section of it will work great as your gaming space. But the more space you have, the better. Larger spaces not only fit more, but they’re also better for heat dissipation, cable management, and are easier to clean. If you have the space to dedicate a whole room to gaming, that would be best. If dedicated gaming room or even a basement is ideal because you could game with a full surround-sound system without disturbing your neighbors or family members. 

2. Lighting:
According to most official health advice, gaming is best done in a well-lit environment to reduce the risk of headaches and or even epileptic episodes. However, many individuals prefer to game in dim/dark environments, so having flexible lighting you can easily control is best, potentially utilizing a light management system. Additionally, dynamic RGB makes your gaming room a lot more immersive and interesting to game in, such as light strips or colored bulbs.

3. Hardware:
The gaming platforms you use will affect the size and arrangement of your gaming room. Consoles such as the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch have a small space footprint overall, and typically only need two wires to work. You will also need a place for your controllers. For a PC, the style of setup may change, even if it’s a gaming laptop. For serious gaming, you’ll want the option of a full-size keyboard and a good gaming mouse, which require larger surfaces to be set on. Additionally, you’ll want your game room to have good quality internet connectivity for online gaming and downloadable content. You should invest in a good router so that all of your gaming devices will get a stable Wi-Fi signal, or be able to connect via an Ethernet cable if you want the best connection for online gaming. 

4. Display:
Projectors make for the most flexible gaming displays, and modern gaming projectors feature high refresh rates, superb HDR, and true 4K. With a projector, you decide how big the screen is, while a TV or monitor are a fixed size. Also, TVs take up much more space than projectors and aren’t as versatile. Most importantly, projectors provide a far superior value and the best gaming models have very low input lag, just like the finest and fastest TVs. For when you want to zoom in on the action or if you have a PC and want a display for both gaming and other applications, a good display will create the ideal gaming space. 

5.Sound:

If you’re in a gaming cave, then you can go for a much bolder and more powerful sound system because you’re less likely to disturb others. Surround sound is standard in gaming, meaning getting a good speaker and subwoofer array is definitely viable for realistic audio. Additionally, wireless gaming headsets offer great sound without the hassle of being tied down by cables, and battery life keeps improving. If you have several headphones and want to show them off, investing in a headphone stand is a wise choice.

6. Seating:
Generally speaking, console gaming is done from the comfort of a couch or cozy chair. Something like a cushy recliner will do just as well if you’re mostly by yourself. If you have guests over for gaming sessions regularly, then a larger couch is a must. We suggest you complement this with a comfortable office or gaming chair. This is necessary for when you want to sit closer to the screen and for desktop PC gaming and productivity. Gaming chairs have improved a lot over the last few years, and offer a good balance between style, comfort, and features such as USB ports and RGB lights. 

7. Collectibles:
Personalize your gaming space with items that reflect your passion for video games. Action figures, minifigs, posters, magnets, pins, and badges are great things to display in your space. If you buy collectors editions of games you’ll have a great collection of items to display. 

8. Personal items:
These items don’t have to be directly related to gaming, but show off your personality and bring you joy. They can range from family photos, musical instruments, sports gear, plushies, and more! The goal of a gaming room is to feel at home, and these items may have a very big impact on how much you enjoy your gaming.
