Seamless AV Integration with a Premium Home Projector: How ISF Calibration Adapts to Different Room Layouts

So… why choose the BenQ W5800 4K Laser Projector?

According to my tests, the W5800 delivers sufficient brightness for stunning HDR on screens up to 160" with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Other projectors tend to be able to project up to 140” as a maximum screen size, to project recommended levels for a proper HDR performance.

Considering Control4 dominates the home automation market worldwide, the inclusion of Control4 certification helps custom integrators to create macros so when the projector is turned on, the screen will drop down, lights dimmed, audio system powered up, etc. The possibilities are endless and only limited to your imagination. 

Now that it has Control4 certification, then what? Not everyone can or wants a home automation in their theatre. This is where HDMI CEC comes to play. For a more basic theatre, you can use BenQ HDMI CEC to help to create macros while still being more economical. Of course, in order to do this a bi-directional active HDMI cable is needed. 

For as long as you use an industry standard Stewart StudioTek 130 G4 screen, the projector is very close to 100% calibrated when used in a completely darkened room with no light reflection. If you are using a more black-level-friendly Screen Innovations Slate 1.2 only minor tweaks are needed. Another brand that I can endorse is Seymour Screens. Stay away from screen brands with questionable specifications, such as XY Screens and Elune Vision (amongst many others), where every production run, the real-life  specifications vary. Rule of thumb?

At this price level, if you are using a screen cheaper than the cost of the projector, you are not getting the best out of any given projector. Will you see pictures on the wall? Sure. But there is a big gap between seeing a picture and seeing the best picture possible. If you want to offer calibration service to your client through seasoned professional calibrator such as myself, the picture quality can be improved. But it is now an option, not a necessity. 

Not only centre mounted lens looks more pleasing and professional, they are actually easier to install. There is no guess work needed when the lens shift needed. After all, you want something that is plug and play, not plug and pray.

While it may sound trivial, you want the least amount of stray lights to be in a room where the projector is situated. By having matte black finish, the BenQ W5800 ensures there is no stray light reflected by the projector’s enclosure.
