Benefits of Dual Monitors

A dual monitor setup makes it possible for you to enjoy multitasking while playing your favorite video games. This extra screen real estate can be used as a desktop for web browsing, watching videos, or for displaying walkthroughs and other information for a game.  Having two screens is almost necessary if you plan to do Twitch streaming. This way you are able to play on a primary monitor and use streaming tools on a secondary monitor.  You can easily view a chat and respond to your viewers in real time.

Another advantage that a dual monitor setup provides for gaming is the ability to embrace immersive gameplay while leaving an additional monitor all to yourself. If you are, for example, a fan of racing games, you might consider having a dual monitor setup consisting of a curved and a flat monitor. Curved monitors, by matching the natural curvature of our eye, will offer a wider viewing angle and will provide a more realistic feel to the gameplay. For gaming purpose, pairing dual 1ms/144Hz gaming monitor such as the EX2710 can also deliver an outstanding gaming experience.

Things to Consider About Dual Monitors

Before you head to the store and spend money on an additional screen, make sure to keep a few things in mind: computer connectivity, screen size, bezels width, and mounts and adjustments.

Computer Connectivity

Before you jump in, you should make sure your computer, or more precisely, your computer’s graphics card is able to support dual monitors. If your graphic card has only one video port, it is not possible to use dual monitors without an additional graphics card. This, however, is uncommon because most modern computers have at least have two video ports, meaning that it is possible to connect dual monitors.  Those ports might be of any type - VGA, DVI, HDMI, Type-C or DisplayPort.  If your extra monitor connector type is different from monitor`s, you might have to use an adapter.

Screen Size

While some people do not mind having monitors of different sizes, overall it is better to get two same-sized monitors for a more balanced experience. So, you should consider the size of an additional monitor in case you already have one. When it comes to refresh rate, most of gamers have no problems operating two screens with different resolutions or even refresh rates. Two different screens need to be aligned properly for best performance.

Bezels Width

The other thing to keep in mind when buying a monitor is its frame thickness.  Extremely narrow bezel monitors are pretty much designed for dual or multiple monitor setup. When placed side by side, two monitors with slim bezels provide an improved viewing experience with no distractions in the way. Even if you already own a monitor with regular bezels, an additional thin bezel monitor can offer you an improved view. You might be interested in BenQ’s EW3280U, which features extra-thin bezels.

Mounts and Adjustments

Depending on your goal and application, you might need some extra accessories for your monitors: such as a stand, mount, or arm.  You also need to consider if you will need a rotation function and how you would like to mount it. But in this case, do not forget to check if you monitors support VESA mount.
