相信大家都對 Pantone 不陌生,其開發的 Pantone Matching System (PMS) 在各領域被廣泛運用,旨在將色彩標準化,讓色彩在專業影像工作者的工作流程中達到一致化。這套標準不但省去了大量的「看起來還不錯」、「幾乎很接近了」等模糊的溝通用語,更為工作者省下了大量時間與費用成本。此外,Pantone 每年發佈的「年度代表色」更是能夠帶起當下的風潮趨勢。然而,多數人對於 Pantone 的理解僅限應用於紙、塑料或布製成的產品上,Pantone 與專業顯示器的關聯性在哪裡?在數位時代中,色彩幾乎都是以數位化的方式呈現,多數與色彩相關的設計或創意,都是從顯示器開始發跡,與專業工作者的硬體脫離不了關係,這也是為什麼 BenQ 在專業螢幕領域致力於成為取得 Pantone相關認證的領先者。
Pantone 在 1960 年代以印刷公司起家,經營一段時間後,專家發現他們需要一套標準來作為色彩溝通的依據,所以在 1963 年,Pantone 開發了第一代的 500 色 Pantone Matching System,演繹至今,PMS 已能夠涵蓋 1300 種色彩,並運用在不同的媒介上,包含紙張、塑膠、織品與電子書。2007 年,色彩量測的領導權威 X-rite 收購了 Pantone,垂直整合色彩專業領域,帶來更便利的色彩量測工具與標準。
Pantone Validated 認證的開發要回溯到 PantoneLIVE 這個系統,PantoneLIVE 是一個雲端色彩系統,是一個品牌經營者、設計師、攝影師、製造商和供應鏈中任何人都可以使用的數位品牌色庫。然而 PantoneLIVE 的旨意雖好,在實際運用上卻依然面臨到了一個巨大挑戰:PantoneLIVE 能夠提供精準的色彩,但用來觀看的顯示器卻不盡然。正確的顏色需要正確的顯示器來達成效果,這也是 Pantone Validated 之所以會被開發的主要原因,我們需要一套認證來分辨專業螢幕的顯色能力。
Pantone 發展至今,2022 協同 BenQ 開發出了全新的 Pantone SkinTone Validated 來滿足那些在工作流程中需要大量呈現真實人體膚色的影像工作者。BenQ 於專業影像領域深耕已久,在精準的色彩調校上不遺餘力,研發出獨家 AQCOLOR 色彩技術並應用於 SW 與 PD 專業螢幕系列,深受影像工作者信任,故本次受到 Pantone 邀請,共同開發出膚色認證 Pantone SkinTone Validated,根據科學測量各種人類皮膚類型中達數千種實際膚色而建立,是人類膚色的完整視覺參考,適用於與膚色相關的專業工作領域。通過 Pantone SkinTone Validated 的專業螢幕,能夠精準呈現各種膚色,包含基於來自不同種族、年齡等數千種人類皮膚測量數據,組合成 110 種獨特的膚色集,定義精準膚色,為專業影像領域帶來更為便捷且可靠的工作利器。
