About the School

Amidst the bustling city of Bangkok sits Sangsom Kindergarten, founded in 1974 by Professor Sangsom Reutrakul. On any given morning, the sound of children laughing fills the hallways and playground. The school has always operated this way, championing collaborative, play-based learning for early education.

Sangsom Kindergarten has long balanced traditional childcare principles with the need to modernize. With digital content rapidly becoming a significant part of children’s daily lives, the school began to face new pressures.

The Challenge

For decades, Sangsom has stayed at the forefront of education, taking pride in creating hands-on, playful learning experiences. Its faculty never lacked creativity. Teachers used whiteboards, flashcards, and worksheets to guide children through language, math, and early literacy.

However, as learning materials, and the world in general, became more multimedia-rich, those same tools couldn’t keep up.

One-at-a-time whiteboard writing slowed down group activities. Hand-drawn flashcards still worked but had become comparatively less captivating. Stacks of printed worksheets were wasteful and required more prep time. Moreover, switching between a laptop, textbook, and whiteboard often meant losing the attention of a room full of five-year-olds.

The school’s leadership understood the issue: Children are now surrounded by online videos, interactive apps, and fast-paced visuals. Their existing classroom tools and equipment have gradually become dated.

BenQ Solutions

The BenQ Board Master RM6504 interactive display was selected as part of a practical, strategic, and sustainable plan. BenQ trainers and after-sales support staff systematically walked teachers through genuinely useful features, such as how to highlight vocabulary, annotate worksheets, save sessions and materials, and design interactive games. A comprehensive library of how-to videos and courses further helped teachers get the most out of the new technology.

“At first, we were worried it might be difficult to use. But after BenQ provided training, we realized how user-friendly it is,” said Narissara Somharwong, a teacher at the school. “The children were immediately excited, which made our lessons fun and lively. It also encouraged them to express themselves more confidently.”

Teachers quickly realized that the BenQ board wasn’t an inconvenience that would end up gathering dust in the corner. It was already removing friction from everything they did.

School Director Montira Thavisin understood early that digital learning and safe learning had to be one and the same. Hence, Sangsom placed high priority on student wellbeing, especially eye health and classroom hygiene. BenQ checked both essential boxes and more.

“The Eyesafe system is particularly important for safeguarding students’ vision. It ensures that while students are actively engaged, their long-term health is not compromised,” Thavisin said.

In addition, for an environment of small children who touch everything and everyone, the germ-resistant screen is a feature of paramount importance.

The Result

When the board powers on, children come alive. Students grab a stylus or use their fingers to write side-by-side, solving problems through teamwork. They drag pictures from anywhere onto the digital whiteboard, freely doodle, and circle anything of interest to their inquisitive minds. The board is responsive, meeting their energy and curiosity instead of hindering them.

Homeroom teacher Elliott Branson saw the shift immediately. “Children can come to the board, annotate directly on materials, or play interactive games. This active involvement transforms learning into a shared experience rather than a passive activity,” he said.

Where students once waited turns, they now participate together. The lesson feels more interactive, rather than a one-way lecture.

Tangible improvements within just a few weeks:

  • Students are more willing to volunteer answers. They see it as play.
  • Lessons flow more smoothly, leaving more time for deeper exploration.
  • Shy children take on active roles at the board.
  • Teachers spend less time prepping and devote their energy to teaching.
  • With InstaShare 2 screen casting features, hybrid setups for remote learning run smoother than before.

Sangsom’s teaching philosophy didn’t have to change. BenQ simply amplified and streamlined it.

Months after implementation, the board is now ingrained in Sangsom’s daily operations. Teachers design their own interactive materials, share files through cloud platforms, and integrate images, videos, music, and online information without disrupting class flow. As for the students? They ask what’s going to be shown on the board before class even starts!

“Technology is essential for learning today. With BenQ, we see quality, user-friendliness, and excellent after-sales service. It’s a solution we are confident to recommend to other schools,” Montira said.

In conclusion, the interactive display upgrade is here to stay.
