When I am creating, accurate color is so critical. It’s essential that the colors I am working with are as close as possible to what will seen by others. AQCOLOR monitors contribute and enhance my work because I am creating for different media and it doesn’t matter if I am working on a print piece or a video, a touch of the hotkey puck and I know I’m viewing accurate color, no matter the project. I also work on multiple displays at once and the colors match perfectly across my whole system.

Can you describe a typical day in your life? What does your workflow look like from start to finish?

One, of this things I love about what I do, is there is no typical day. I wear many hats and each day is different depending which I am wearing. I’m a creator/Author/Artist/Instructor/Creative Director/Photographer/Filmmaker/DP/Speaker/Designer/Consultent/Social Media Influencer/Digital Marketer/Publisher/Reviewer/Traveler. The question I always dread is “What do you do for a living?” I always start each day with a walk. Then I work, depending on what I’m doing that will look very different.

Could you share details about an interesting project you're currently working on or have recently completed?

I worked on a graphic Novel with well-known musician David Lee Roth, We worked on this together for several year. The collaboration involved traditional Illustration (done by Dave), table top photography, a lot of compositing with Photoshop, animation, original music and voice overs.

Then there’s a new book I’m currently working on with my publisher, Rocky Nook. It’s a practical guide to Generative ai in Photoshop. This is a fun project because Generative ai is an emerging technology and can be used in so many different ways. There is some contoversy around the topic, but I’m not a stranger to that as I was involved in the digitalization of graphic arts as well as the switch from film to digital photograpy. As I worked on projects and taught others how to make the switch, I heard a lot of the same things I hear today. Some people resist change, and sadly lose their relevance as the world moves on. Others embrace change and become the pioneers of the next thing. I have always been of the latter mindset and have never called myself a purist.

How do you decide on the topics or techniques you share with your audience? What sources of inspiration influence these choices the most?

First, the topics that I am excited about and ones that inspire me personally.  Listening to feedback and looking for patterns in question and requests. Reading comments on my youtube channel and website as well as emails. I read all of them. Latest advances in technology and creating interesting ways to use them. I experiment a lot and work on personal projects. I learn a lot from these and they provide me with lots of material.

In your opinion, what is the most essential quality for a content creator to possess?

Passion: which creates a hunger to learn and grow, this in turn leads to mastery of your craft. Now add mastery to your passion and you are creating something special.

Is there a specific motto or phrase that particularly resonates with you and influences your work?

Be Original, Stay Curious.
