TAIPEI, TAIWAN, September 5, 2011 – An internationally renowned provider of digital lifestyle innovations and LED monitor expert, BenQ announced the launch of the world’s first RTS (Real-Time Strategy) gaming monitor today. Following the tremendous success of the XL2410T in 2011, BenQ joined hands once again with ZOWIE GEAR, the most professional manufacturer of competitive gaming gears, along with STARTALE, a world-class StarCraft 2 professional gaming team sponsored by BenQ since 2011, for the development of the all new RL Series. As promised to the gaming community, this ingenious collaboration brought together fundamental gaming insights with BenQ’s R&D expertise and delivered cutting-edge features that offer top-level gamers unprecedented level of control, accuracy and enjoyment.
"It was a humbling experience to watch the XL2410T turn into a grand success last winter. It appeared to be one of the most preferred monitors in DreamHack Summer 2011, Global Starcraft II League and GamesCon 2011. The enthusiastic responses it generated in the international gaming community were phenomenal,” said Peter Chen, EVP and General Manager of BenQ Technology Product Center. “Unquestionably, this deepened our belief that the key to winning, whether it’s for gaming or for creating outstanding monitors, is in the details. With the launch of the RL2240H, we hope to optimize the gaming experience for RTS gamers around the world. Detail matters, enjoyment matters."
Built to set an exceedingly high benchmark for RTS gaming displays, the RL2240H is certainly a true testament to the belief of “gaming is in the details”. Every feature and function of this monitor was meticulously thought out to fulfill a specific gaming purpose – ultimately to provide RTS gamers with vital visibility and command to achieve peak performance. The collaboration with the STARTALE players offered BenQ insider perspectives on details that were essential to winning the game, particularly the ability to acquire, assess and respond to information quickly. BenQ answered this demand with the Black eQualizer, an exclusively designed color engine technology that reveals critical combat details with improved visibility in darkened areas. The Black eQualizer allows gamers to adjust the screen brightness without over-exposing white levels, enabling them to screen critical combat details speedily with added gameplay comfort. BenQ also worked with the STARTALE players to develop the RTS Mode, a preset mode with tailored monitor calibrations for RTS gaming. To offer even more convenience and ease to gamers, the RTS Mode is set as the out-of-box setting.
During the period of product development and testing, BenQ’s product team and the leading STARTALE players exchanged several visits to fine-tune the display performance of the RL2240H to improve user accessibility and comfort. The Display Mode and the Smart Scaling feature were created to accommodate individual viewing preferences. Gamers can use the Display Mode to interchange between four monitor screen sizes from 17” (4:3), 19” (4:3), 19”W (16:10) to 21.5”W (16:9) and the Smart Scaling feature to manually scale the screen to any custom size. The RL2240H sports an all white housing for a sleeker look that was favored by STARTALE’s star gamer, July.
The RL2240H will be heading to Europe, Korea and Japan in October, worldwide thereafter. For more information, please visit www.BenQ.com
