IRVINE, Calif., (October 31, 2006) – BenQ, a leading manufacturer of digital lifestyle devices, today announced the introduction of the industry’s first widescreen LCD monitor with HDMI interface and 6ms gray-to-gray response time, the FP241W. The unit, which takes game playing to new heights, is among the first multi-function monitors to achieve the new TCO ’06 certification. It also features proprietary BenQ Senseye™ and Advanced Motion Acceleration™ (AMA) technologies to further enhance the gaming experience. It has an MSRP of $1099.
Its High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) enables the FP241W to easily transfer data at the extreme rate of 5GB/second, critical in the playing of today’s action-packed video games. It also eliminates the need for signal conversions, ensuring the best quality video. Unlike other high-performance displays, the BenQ FP241W uses only a single HDMI cable to carry video signals, helping assure not only the best quality picture and audio presentation, but hassle-free installation as well.
Real-world video content, such as that found in today’s highly sophisticated digital video games, contains a combination of grayscale images. It generally takes longer for a pixel to transition to this intermediate level of intensity than it does for it to turn completely black or white. Built-in AMA technology greatly reduces gray-to-gray response time so moving parts of an image are clearer, no matter what the image content. Even highly dynamic gaming video is crisp and clean. The FP241W offers a GTG response time of just 6ms. Additionally, exclusive BenQ Senseye technology along with a 1000:1 contrast ratio ensure that the unit delivers vibrant colors and exquisitely rendered details.
The BenQ FP241W is among the first multifunction displays to be certified to the new international quality standard, TCO'06 Media Displays. This new standard is in response to increased market demands for excellence in the display of moving images such as high-resolution action games. Achieving this certification means BenQ has passed some of the strictest requirements in the world in regards to ergonomics (outstanding picture quality, color reproduction); energy (low consumption in standby mode); emissions (low electric and magnetic fields); and ecology (meets or surpasses tough environmental criteria).
The unit also has many other outstanding features. 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) resolution enables the FP241W to display more content while maintaining crisp details and legible text. Its wide-screen format ensures no image distortion or cropping. Unlike conventional LCD monitors, the FP241W features complete HD support, so viewers can enjoy the most dazzlingly video possible. It is the perfect way to fully experience the lifelike video presentations as found in the latest game consoles.
With its Windows Vista Premium ready designation, the BenQ FP241W multifunction monitor is capable of displaying many new advanced features such as Aero effects, including translucent windows, Flip 3D, and smooth moving windows.
Height and orientation of the screen can be adjusted from -5 degrees to 20 degrees up/down and -45 degrees to 45 degrees left/right to provide the ideal viewing angle and assuring the user of maximum comfort. Two USB ports are located on the right side of the bezel and another on the upper part for easy connection of other peripherals. The FP241W complies with Energy Star® v4.0 for computer monitors.
