BenQ Canada's DW16x DVD Rewriter Models Garner International Critical Acclaim

Toronto, Ontario, November 30, 2004 – The results are in, and critics are unanimous in their praise of BenQ Canada’s DW16x DVD rewriter series. Since their launch earlier this year, the four models - DW1600, DW1610, DW1620 and DW1620 Pro - have been evaluated by influential optical professional media and hardware forums across the globe, and heralded as the best DVD rewriters on the market today. Two forums in particular - Tom’s Hardware and CD Freaks - proclaimed the DW1600 and DW1620 as their respective Editor’s Choice recipients.

“We are beyond thrilled at the positive reception and critical acclaim BenQ’s DW16x DVD rewriters have received,” said Jimmy Davlouros, Vice President and General Manager for BenQ Canada. “We never doubted for a moment that the DW16x would be a smash success. BenQ’s incredible R&D facilities thrive on developing the latest cutting-edge technology, and I can’t wait to see what our laboratories will come up with next.”

Alientech and Hardware4you, two Italian professional hardware forums, gave the rewriters high marks. Alientech called the DW1600 a “perfect drive, good writer,” while Hardware4you said the DW1620 was “optimal and innovative.” Dinside, a Norwegian professional hardware forum, gave both the DW1600 and DW1620 models perfect scores in a recent review. And MacUp Magazine, one of the largest Mac magazines in Germany, declared the DW1600 a Test Winner.

Hardware Info, a Benelux Professional Magazine, said “the BenQ DW1600 is your best choice with wide compatibility, good quality and over speed possibility.” The Dutch forum CD Freaks raved the DW1620 had “excellent writing quality with almost every disc, a good retail bundle and advanced testing features - what more do you want?”

The BenQ DW16x DVD rewriter series boasts the world’s first 16x dual-layer recorder. The models feature incredible recording performance including: 16x DVD+R, 4 DVD+RW, 16x DVD-R, 4x DVD-RW, 4x DVD+R DL (except the DW1610), 40x CDR, 24x CDRW, 40x CDROM, and 120 ms seek time.
