TAIWAN, Taoyuan, 4th of June , 2004 – BenQ announced that its May consolidated revenue reached US$ 395 million (NT$13.3 billion). This is a 69% increase compared to the same time last year.
“With the advent of Computex Taipei 2004 and UEFA EURO 2004™ in June, BenQ will without a doubt see an increase in its June shipment volumes,” said President and Chief Operating Officer of BenQ, Sheaffer Lee. “With the platform provided by Computex and UEFA EURO 2004™, BenQ will be able to raise its brand awareness and experience substantial growth in its sales volumes.”
Looking at the performance of BenQ’s individual product lines, the Networking and Communications Business Group stood out in the month of May with mobile phones shipment volumes reaching 1.8 million units. The shipment volume of mobile phones in June is anticipated to see further growth.
For the Digital Media Business Group, projector volumes remained stable with the shipment of 30,000 units in May. Regarding the Network Display Business Group, shipment volumes of LCD displays stood at 500,000 units due to seasonal factors, however the figures are expected to pickup in June.
With the launch of the 16X BenQ DVD+RW, the Imaging Network Business Group is foreseeing a sizeable increase in its June shipment volumes.
