Sheaffer Lee appointed President of BENQ Corporation

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, September 15 2003
Sheaffer Lee today was appointed President of BenQ Corporation. According to shareholder meeting resolution, Lee, an 18-year BenQ veteran will assume the position immediately. The appointment complements Lee’s current role as BenQ COO.

“BenQ’s rapid expansion requires changes in our fundamental structure to ensure competitiveness and growth, pushing the focus on fields such as new product development, cost control, branding, customer service, and administration, which I have full confidence Sheaffer will be able to deliver,” stated K.Y. Lee, BenQ Chairman and CEO.

“My 18-year experience at BenQ has yielded many changes, including the development of new business and the globalization of our company. Today, by accepting this position, I will continue my personal involvement in our business groups’ development and growth,” commented Sheaffer Lee, President and COO of BenQ Corporation.

Sheaffer Lee holds degrees in Electrical Engineering from National Cheng-Kung University in Taiwan, Taiwan and an EMBA from National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan. A former research and development engineer, Lee has held positions in marketing, sales and product development and yields much experience in these fields.

In 1986, Lee was appointed BenQ America’s marketing director, and in 1992, Lee transferred to BenQ to head its storage business group. In 1999, Lee was promoted to Executive Vice President overseeing global manufacturing operations, product development, and market strategy. In 2002, Lee took the position of COO in charge of Business Operations.
