Offices are already firmly established in the United Kingdom, Germany, the Benelux, Austria (which also serves Eastern Europe), and Spain. The new office in Switzerland opened on February 1st, 2002 near to Zurich, and on March 1st, 2002, BenQ's Italian office in Milan will become operational.
The Swiss office - BenQ Schweiz AG - is under the management of Rainer Paierl, who previously worked for Acer Computer, and was responsible for the display business, since 1996. The office's seven employees will be focusing on the sales and marketing of BenQ's IT peripheral products. BenQ Italy Srl will be headed by Giorgio Bignoli, who was previously employed by Acer Computer, and has been responsible for the peripherals business in Italy for seven years.
BenQ aims to open sales offices in all the major European countries. It firmly believes that a presence in local markets - manned by local specialists - is instrumental in providing the sort of quality products and services required today. In addition, BenQ is convinced that customers can be better and more efficiently served from local offices.
"Our two latest office openings in Switzerland and in Italy are important for our global image and for ensuring the efficiency of our global distribution system," says Conway Lee, Managing Director, BenQ Europe. "They also demonstrate the commitment we have towards investing in our channels to support their efforts in driving our products into local markets. We are firmly committed to serving local markets and are convinced that this will help us build a strong brand within Europe."
