Project

An international school in Japan needs new interactive display solutions for a brand new campus

Challenge

Located in Yokohama, Horizon Japan International School has been providing education to the city’s international and local children since 2003. Horizon Japan International School is committed to nurturing its diverse student body into global-minded citizens who are ready to tackle present and future challenges. To this end it is certified as an IB (International Baccalaureate) World School and authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme, which allows its students to get a head start no matter where in the world they decide to pursue their post-secondary education.

Recently the school moved to a newly constructed campus near Yokohama Station. The construction of the new campus also introduce an opportunity to replace outdated teaching technologies with newer, more effective solutions. The school had long relied on classroom projectors for delivering teaching materials and multimedia content. But these projectors had poor brightness and color performance, and although they included some interactive functionality, these interactive features performed poorly and thus were rarely used by students or teachers. It was time to move in a new direction.

Solution

Horizon Japan International School found the solution they were looking for at an education expo. After sampling products from all the major vendors, both from Japan and abroad, the school found that BenQ offered the best education display solutions for the classroom. The BenQ RP8601K 4K UHD 86” Education Interactive Flat Panel Display was everything the school’s old projectors were not. It featured bright colors, reliable performance, and multi-touch interactivity designed to deeply engage the minds of young learners.

The RP8601K is BenQ’s premiere flat-panel display solution for classrooms. Harnessing the power of BenQ’s exclusive EZWrite 5 software, the RP8601K lets users collect, categorize, edit, and share notes between the classroom display and their mobile devices. This makes it easy for teachers and students to make notes in class and save them for later use in school or at home. Furthermore, the included dual pens let two users write on the board at the same time in different colors, while Brush Mode empowers young artists with a multitude of drawing options that turn the 86” display into a digital canvas.

BenQ also takes student health seriously. Every RP8601K display includes an air quality sensor that helps educators ensure that students have an ideal learning environment. Meanwhile, BenQ’s Smart Eye-Care Technology eliminates flicker and reduces glare and blue light emissions to protect students’ still-developing eyes. Finally, the RP8601K’s germ-resistant screen lets students interact with the board freely while inhibiting the spread of germs in the classroom.

Result

BenQ’s Education Interactive Flat Panel Displays have been the perfect partner for Horizon Japan International School’s new campus. Students are impressed with the clarity of the displays, as well as with the fact that you can write on them without a connected laptop. Meanwhile, teachers and staff have found that the displays have all the features they wanted and more, and have also been very satisfied with BenQ’s support both before and after the school acquired the boards. Classes at Horizon Japan International School are now more fun and productive than ever, and BenQ has played a central role in the new campus’s success.
