For Gamers Who Crave Artistic Immersion: BenQ Hosts "MOBIUZ OLED Gaming Monitor Experience Event”

Nioh 3 General Producer Fumihiko Yasuda and Art Director Kensaku Tabuchi discuss Worldbuilding Across Four Eras and the Game Art Experience

BenQ Japan Corporation (Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; hereafter “BenQ”) offers the gaming monitor brand “MOBIUZ,” designed to deliver immersive gameplay experiences for fans of RPGs and open-world games.

While resolution and frame rate are often emphasized in gaming experiences, creators place meticulous attention on color to express their intended world. To demonstrate how faithfully a monitor can reproduce this "creator intent," — and how it impacts gameplay — BenQ held the “MOBIUZ OLED Model Product Experience Event” in Tokyo on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. At the event, BenQ invited General Producer Fumihiko Yasuda and Art Director Kensaku Tabuchi of KOEI TECMO GAMES CO., LTD. (Headquarters: Yokohama, Kanagawa; President & CEO & COO: Hisashi Koinuma), creators of the dark samurai action RPG Nioh 3. They shared insights into visual design and worldbuilding from a developer's perspective, along with an introduction to BenQ MOBIUZ’s development background and key differentiators.

Nioh 3 Game Creators Discuss Worldbuilding and the Value of MOBIUZ

A talk session was held featuring Nioh 3 General Producer Fumihiko Yasuda, Art Director Kensaku Tabuchi, and BenQ Japan Executive Vice President Hiroshi Horaguchi.

During the session, the speakers discussed Nioh 3, released in February 2026 as the first new entry in the series in six years. In addition to its appeal as a “dark samurai action RPG” series that has surpassed 10 million units sold worldwide, they highlighted new elements such as the open-field design and the game’s worldbuilding approach. This includes distinct depictions of “hell” across four eras—Sengoku, Heian, Ancient, and Bakumatsu—each designed with unique motifs and signature color schemes. They also introduced the game’s artistic philosophy: enhancing player immersion by contrasting a dark, yokai-infested Japanese world with tense battle areas and moments of visual respite in scenic environments.

On stage, Nioh 3 was demonstrated using a MOBIUZ monitor. A tea plantation scene near Hamamatsu during the Sengoku period was used as a reference for comparing visual presentation across locations. The developers noted how memorable the scene was, particularly the color of reflected light. Compared to the visuals seen during development, they commented that the representation on MOBIUZ appeared “one level better.”

The discussion also explored how to deliver such nuanced expressions of color, light, and shadow to players. BenQ’s “Game Art” philosophy and its proprietary “Smart Game Art” feature—designed to optimize color expression based on each title’s artistic style—were highlighted. The session demonstrated a strong synergy between Nioh 3’s worldbuilding vision and MOBIUZ’s display technology.

MOBIUZ Series: Gaming Monitors Designed for Game Art

A presentation was also delivered by MOBIUZ Product Manager Yusuke Takami, explaining the differences between conventional gaming monitor color reproduction and MOBIUZ’s Game Art–focused approach.

While typical gaming monitors offer color modes based on broad genres (such as FPS or RPG), MOBIUZ recognizes that individual titles feature diverse artistic styles. Based on proprietary analysis of hundreds of game titles, MOBIUZ introduces three distinct color modes: Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Realistic, rather than genre-based presets.

For PC gaming, users can install the proprietary Color Shuttle software, enabling the Smart Game Art feature. This function uses AI to analyze gameplay in real time and automatically applies optimal color settings.

During the event, comparative demonstrations across different game titles showcased how colors are automatically adjusted to match each game’s world, allowing users to experience the creator’s intended visuals without complex manual adjustments.

In addition to last year’s OLED model EX271UZ, the MOBIUZ lineup has been expanded with two new models: EX321UZ and EX271QZ. Attendees experienced the differences firsthand through live demos, and influencers showed strong interest in how display technology impacts visual expression.
