Golf simulation allows players to experience golf course-like play indoors. The game has gained immense popularity because it offers players the opportunity to practice golf while simulating the experience of playing a round in a relaxed, game-like atmosphere. AMPLUS Y.K., with an office in Yokohama, has been involved in importing, sales, and planning of golf simulators since its establishment in 2005, making it a pioneer in the industry. The company provides essential measurement equipment for golf simulation, including Foresight Sports' GC3/GCQuad/GCHawk and the self-developed FOCUS system. President Nobuhisa Kurachi expresses confidence in their mission: "Our unwavering commitment is to provide the most accurate sensors with stunning imagery to deliver a realistic golf experience indoors. "
At the company's interactive showroom, which opened last December, visitors can experience the "FOCUS" system developed by the company, along with measurement equipment from Foresight Sports. Additionally, BenQ's golf projectors support the showroom's imagery.

President Kurachi expressed his impression of BenQ, stating, "BenQ has found a way to make a positive impact in the field of projectors dedicated to golf simulators. The fact that they have thoroughly introduced various technologies and strategies into this field is a significant advantage for our industry compared to other companies."

The selection criteria for the projector to be used with the golf simulator were "durability and the ability to maintain the color accuracy and brightness of the image for a long period of time," said President Kurachi. BenQ's unique strengths, such as filter-less, maintenance-free, 24-hour operation, and dust-proof design with IP5X certification, seem to best meet these criteria.
Two of our projectors, the LK936ST 4K laser projector and the LW650 general-purpose laser projector with a lightweight and compact design, are used in the AMPLUS showroom. President Kurachi explains the reasons for the adoption of each as follows:
BenQ Laser Projector LK936ST
The projector that projects onto the main 4.3m x 2.7m large impact screen is the LK936ST laser projector, renowned for its 4K resolution, high brightness of 5,100 ANSI lumens, and short throw design. President Kurachi cites "projection distance" as one of the key factors in selecting a projector for simulation golf. Many customers request large projections even in small rooms, and the LK936ST's short focal length lens, with a ratio of 0.81, is highly praised for its ability to create an impressively large screen even at close distances. "With a short throw, you can effectively utilize space, increase the number of rounds, and minimize shadows."
4-point correction (corner alignment) function of LK936ST
Realization of image projection on the full screen
He added, "In some locations, the projector cannot be placed directly in front of the screen due to ceiling beams or lighting positions and must be moved to the edge—vertically or horizontally. The LK936ST is a laser projector equipped with four-point correction (adjustable angular alignment), offering a high degree of flexibility," he emphasized. "Previously, when searching for projectors with four-point correction, most were of the LCD type. However, we were surprised to find that a laser projector can also perform four-point correction," he said.
The simulator has a high demand for full-screen projection on the impact screen without blacking out the top, bottom, left, and right sides and without creating gaps," he said. President Kurachi also commented on the highly realistic "immersive" and "realistic" sensation achieved through the color accuracy and color reproduction of BenQ projectors.
General-purpose laser projector LW650 for floor projection
High-definition projection mapping
AMPLUS' FOCUS is a revolutionary system that uses AI to analyze the image of the club and automatically projects the trajectory of the club head on the floor through projection mapping. A major feature of this system is that the trajectory of the club and the orientation of the face can be checked immediately after hitting the ball.
The LW650, a compact, general-purpose laser projector with excellent power efficiency, is used in combination with the FOCUS, a new product to be released on February 22, 2024.
FOCUS' projection mapping requires projection onto the green artificial turf on the floor, rather than onto a white screen, but the artificial turf is diffusely reflective, so the images are blurred. "The LW650 produces a crisp, clear image," said President Kurachi. "We are very grateful that we were able to achieve a clearer image than we had expected," he said with a smile.
In addition, in order to project onto the floor, the projector must be installed vertically from the ceiling. "Many general projectors do not support vertical projection due to heat exhaust," he said, "but I think the fact that BenQ's projectors can easily achieve this is one of the good points of their projectors."

In addition, President Kurachi mentioned BenQ's "free loaner service," which he said was very much appreciated."Of course, it is impossible to use a projector without trying it out," he prefaced, "but projectors are usually brought in by the manufacturer's sales staff, and after a demonstration of some kind, they usually take it home with them."However, BenQ lent us the equipment as is and let us test it thoroughly until we were satisfied," he exclaimed."They were able to loan us the equipment over a long period of time so we could do a variety of tests, putting it on the front, putting it on the back, putting it on vertically," he said."This helped us understand the stability of the system and increased its reliability as we used it more and more," he said, citing the benefits of the "free loaner service."
He also spoke highly of BenQ's support system, saying, "I was given clear answers immediately on how to set up even the most complicated settings." In particular, since the "LW650" had been on loan from BenQ before its release, "BenQ was able to explain the functions of the product even before its release," he said. "We were able to get a thorough explanation of the functions of the product even before its launch, which was very helpful since other manufacturers do not provide that level of support," said a grateful customer.

When asked for advice on projector selection for those intending to build a simulation golf system at home or in a corporation (indoor golf facility, etc.), he replied, "Whether they offer products with functions and specifications appropriate for the application, whether they can explain them, and whether they can offer alternatives when they do not meet the requirements—I think this is an important point in projector selection," says President Kurachi. He offered the following advice: "Especially these days, I believe there are laser projectors from various companies that do not require lamp replacement, but it is also important that they have features that are more simulator-specific."
Finally, he reiterated his recommendations for BenQ's projectors.
BenQ's projectors meet a much wider range of requirements, including projection distance, four-point compensation (corner matching function), and color accuracy. Additionally, since BenQ operates worldwide, the fact that we can receive a global standard of service is one of the main reasons why we choose BenQ.
