Thought I would share a review of my new projector in case it helps others in their golf sim adventure. The BenQ AH500ST has really taken my garage sim experience to another level, and I'd definitely recommend it!
As I built my compact garage simulator space, I tried several office and home theater projectors with various throw ratios, resolutions, and features. I always felt like there was more to be desired with the experience, and while I was not ready to jump to 4k, there had to be a projector that would fill my space with a clearer, brighter, more vibrant picture.

As soon as I started to install the BenQ AH500ST, I could tell the experience was going to be different. The short throw ratio and vertical and horizontal keystone feature let me place the projector in an ideal location above and just in front of my hitting strip without having to get the exact location perfect. I used BenQ’s Screen Fill feature to select the closest resolution to my screen size and the manual corner fit adjustments to fine tune my custom resolution. The whole setup experience was quick, easy, and effective.
The color and clarity of the picture using the AH500ST with GSPro really impressed me. I used to spend time adjusting color and lighting settings to get a usable picture, but for the first time, I was able to use the course designer’s intended settings. The biggest improvement in the experience was the increase in detail of the course features and shot data. I played with the projector color modes, but kept coming back to BenQ’s Golf Mode setting, which really makes the green and blue golf course colors pop. I’ve also used the projector to watch sports, and having both golf sim and other entertainment options has really made our small garage a fun place to hang out. Overall, the BenQ AH500ST has provided a major upgrade to both my garage simulator and my indoor golf enjoyment.
