New “BenQ Classroom IQ”: A Complete Suit of New-Generation Interactive Classroom Solutions for Schools Around the World

01-14-2013

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, January 14th, 2013 – Internationally renowned provider of digital lifestyle and global DLP® education projector leader, BenQ is proud to announce today the launch of BenQ Classroom IQ – a complete suit of new-generation interactive classroom solutions designed to fulfill BenQ’s brand promise of future-proofing every classroom while bringing a higher level of productivity, efficiency, simplicity and enjoyment to classroom instructors, IT managers and school administrators worldwide. BenQ Classroom IQ consists of innovative software and hardware that enables versatile ways of teaching and learning among multiple devices. Like all BenQ education projector features and functions, they are also easy to set up, enjoyable to use and require minimum maintenance.

BenQ Classroom IQ offerings can be categorized into three main aspects:

BYOD (Bring Your Own Device): A New Way to Connect and Engage
Students today are accustomed to using a wide range of personal electronics devices, such as smart phones, tablets and laptops, for conducting research, writing reports and more. Some schools have even begun allowing or even encouraging students to bring their own devices to class. Recognizing this trend, BenQ has developed tools to support classroom instruction and management with multiple devices:
• QDraw 3.0 Interactive Software and APP enables teachers to present and annotate on any teaching materials, be it Word, Powerpoint, PDF or webpages. The new Presenter Mode allows teachers to present from anywhere in the room, access and control from the desktop. The new Collaboration Mode enables collaborative learning by connecting all devices to share annotations, view another’s screen or pass control to different participants. QDraw 3.0 works across all platforms and devices, including Windows, Mac and Linus, and is now available for download for free from App Store and Play Store.
• QPresenter 2.0 Software and APP offers another way for teachers and students to share photos, PDF files and Powerpoint files from their own tablets through adding files via iTune, Dropbox or email. The new version supports a wide range of document and image files and enables virtual keypad control on tablets for ease of use. Built-in cameras in smart phones and tablets can also be used as document cameras to project images captured onto the projection screen.
• USB Reader and Office Viewer makes PC-less presentation possible by allowing teachers and students to save their Powerpoint, Excel, Word and Keynote files onto their USB drive and present the files with a simple plug and play.

Interactivity: Taking Interactive Learning to a Whole New Level
Interactive learning is a research-proven method of teaching that enables effective active learning. A good balance of fun and learning encourages students to be more hands-on in the process. To take interactive learning to a whole new level, BenQ has upgraded its PointDraw remote control technology along with the creation of the PointWrite device and 2nd-generation S30 document camera.
• PointDraw 3.0, with the addition of Gyro Sensor and Accelerometer for pixel accuracy and responsive writing speed, now offers an even more fluid writing experience. Teachers and students can collaborate simultaneously in class using the Dual Pen feature. The new version offers up to 20 hours of long lasting performance per full charge. A charging cradle is included to hold and charge the pens.
• PointWrite is a 80FPS sensor attached to the lens of the projector to detect IR beams emitted from the PointWrite pen. Similar to PointDraw 3.0, PointWrite supports auto calibration and rapid writing response time. It also enables multi-writing of up to 4 pens, allowing small groups of students to come up to the board to participate in activities such as math problem solving or spelling games.
• The new S30 document camera not only comes with a new ID design but also many improved features, including higher image quality and constant zoom performance with 40x zoom (5 optical zoom x 8 optical zoom), a laser position light, card reader function and more.

Low Total Cost of Ownership: Save Smart with SmartEco Technology
Designed to bring together uncompromised brightness, exquisite picture quality and optimized lamp life, BenQ’s SmartEco technology perfects what DLP can do for energy saving in the 21st century classroom.
• SmartEco Mode allows the projector to automatically adjust its lamp power between 100% and 30% based on the amount of brightness required by the output content. By cleverly utilizing just the right amount the lamp power, schools can effectively reduce the total cost of ownership with extended lamp life and lowered power consumption.
• SmartEco Advanced Mode, the advanced version of SmartEco Mode, is available through BenQ’s BlueCore models. This incredible feature is able to reduce power consumption by up to 90%, drastically saving energy bills and extending the duration of the light source life.
• Eco Blank Mode allows teachers to blank the projection screen whenever they need to direct their students’ focus back on them or when the projector is not in use. When activated, the Eco Blank Mode dims the lamp power automatically, cutting 70% of the total power consumption.

BenQ Classroom IQ Solutions will be available for the worldwide market in February 2013. For more information, please visit www.BenQ.com.
