When connecting an external hard drive to GP20, why the hard drive could not be driven well sometimes ?

When connect a external hard drive to GP20, we suggest to use a Y USB cable with one standard Type A plug connected to GP10 and the other standard type A plug connected to other power source such as computer. If 2 standards Type A plugs are connect to GP20, the power supply to the external might not be sufficient.
