SYDNEY, Australia, June 28th, 2017 – BenQ ZOWIE and ESL Australia are proud to officially announce the Qualifier for the BenQ ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND 2017 Asia Cup for Australia and New Zealand. As an open qualifier, any player from the Oceanic region is eligible to compete over a 3 week period for their chance to qualify for the BenQ ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND event in Shanghai, China. 16 teams from 14 regions will compete for their share of the $100,000 USD prize pool. The Final event will take place on the 19th to 22nd of October, 2017.

The ANZ Qualifier will be divided into three components; the two online stages will take place on the weekend of Saturday the 22nd of July and Sunday the 6th of August. The online component of the tournament will provide the opportunity for new and lesser known teams a chance to prove their talents in an easily accessible, open format.

The Offline Stage of the ANZ Qualifier will take place at ESL Studios, Sydney on the 9th of September. We are pleased to announce that Chiefs Esports Club and Grayhound Gaming have been invited directly to the live finals where they will face the two teams that successfully advance through the online qualifier. The crowned champion of the ANZ Qualifier will be awarded the Australian invite to the BenQ ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND finals in Shanghai with flights and accommodation included.

“The success of the BenQ ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND tournament in Shanghai has enabled us to expand in 2017 with an open qualifier for Australia and New Zealand in partnership with ESL Australia. ESL have shown great passion and professionalism as the leading eSports tournament organisers, and with our mutual dedication to eSports we look forward to providing players with the opportunity to represent our region on the global stage.” – Martin Moelle (Managing Director, BenQ Australia)

“Over the years as Counter-Strike has progressed in Australia and New Zealand, our local teams have further sought out the opportunity to compete on both the local and international levels in the LAN environment. BenQ ZOWIE have been able to create such a program where teams from our region will have the best possible opportunities to not only compete internationally, but be successful as well.” - Nick Vanzetti (Managing Director, ESL Australia)
