How do I present the HiDPI Scaling Setting in my Mac with my BenQ 2K monitor and make the fonts sharper on the screen?

09-02-2024

If you own the PD3420Q, PD2705Q, PD2506Q, SW270C, or SW272Q model, please follow the steps below:

1. Confirm the BenQ model you are using to connect to your Mac.

If you have the PD3420Q or SW270C model, ensure that your firmware

version is V007 (PD3420Q) or V011 (SW270C) or later. To check, go to OSD

menu > System > Information > Version. If not, please contact BenQ

   Support for further assistance.

If you have the PD2506Q or SW272Q model, download the PD2506Q
   Display Quickit
or SW272Q Display Quickit from the BenQ website to
upgrade your firmware to the latest version.

2. Confirm the video cable you are using to connect your monitor and Mac.

If you are using a USB-C cable, go to the monitor's OSD menu > System

    > USB-C configuration and change the setting from USB 2.0 to USB 3.0/3.1
    /3.2 Gen1.

If you are using a USB-C to DisplayPort cable, go to the monitor's OSD menu

    > System > Advanced > DisplayPort and change the setting to DP 1.1.

3. On your Mac, hold the Option key on the keyboard and click on the "Scaled"
option to enable the "Show all resolutions" option in the macOS settings.

4. Once enabled, you will see the resolution options with HiDPI and 2560 x
    1440 (default) in macOS.

5. We recommend selecting the resolution with HiDPI or 2560x1440 (Default)

to improve the issue of blurry fonts.

Note: Only the Macs with the Apple chip support the HiDPI feature.
