  • What type of HDMI cable version is compatible with 4K HDR?
  • Why is BenQ Home Projector’s 4K a True 4K?
  • According to CTA (Consumers Technology Association), 4K UHD must fulfill the criteria of delivering 8.3 million pixels on the screen. By harnessing the most advanced DLP .47” DMD, TK850i utilizes millions of micromirrors, and the fast switching speed as well as the advanced image processing capability of the DLP 4K UHD chipset to achieve CTA’s 4K UHD specification (8.3 million distinct pixels for each frame), four times the resolution of Full HD 1080p.
  • What is DLP 4K UHD Technology?
  • DLP 4K UHD Technology is Texas Instruments’ pixel-shifting technology. It’s to achieve True 4K 8.3 million pixels regardless of the number of native pixels the DMD Chip has. It can not only double 2716 x 1528 pixels (.66” DMD), but also perfectly quadruple 1920 x 1080 pixels (.47” DMD) to make True 4K 8.3 million pixels at a lightning pixel-shifting speed.
  • Why does the 4K DLP Technology produce a slight high frequency noise?
  • In order to create smooth 4K resolution images, True 4K DLP Technology utilizes high speed pixel displacement and the superimposition of pixels to produce the 8.3 million pixels seen by the viewer. An end result of this process is a degree of vibration that may results in a slight or unnoticeable high-frequency noise.

  • What makes BenQ Home Projector's True 4K outperform 3LCD 4K-Enhancement?
  • TK850 delivers True 4K UHD with 8.3 million distinct pixels, as opposed to 3LCD competitors’ 4K Enhancement producing simply around 4.1 million pixels, and this difference makes the picture quality of TK850 more appealing to enthusiastic movie lovers or big-screen cinematic experience seekers.
  • What 3D effects or modes does the projector support?
  • The current firmware version only supports 3D Frame Sequential (PC) and Frame Packing (Blu-ray). Side by side 3D or Top & Bottom 3D is not yet supported but will be released in future firmware updates to support streaming other 3D formats.
  • Can I use the projector to play games?
  • Definitely. The projector is a good choice for console or casual gaming. For hardcore gamers in pursuit of ultra-low latency, BenQ’s wide range of products should meet your needs.
  • Can I connect the projector to any game console?
  • Yes. You can connect the projector to a Switch, PS4/PS5 and Xbox console using an HDMI cable.
  • If I enable the keystone function in the projector, will the input lag be impacted?
  • Yes, since image processing is required for the keystone function, input lag will be slightly longer* but not affecting the smoothness in games when the keystone is enabled. *Latency will hardly be noticeable with keystone function enabled, as lag time merely increase no more than 1 frame (4ms~16ms).
  • What type of 4K HDR signal is compatible with the projector?
  • The compatible resolutions is 3840 x 2016 in pixels at 24/25/30/50/60 (Hz). Please read on to learn more about this topic.

To automatically detect HDR content, please make sure your 4K player is sending a compatible 4K HDR signal to the projector.

    1. Compatible resolutions: 4K x 2K (3840 x 2016 in pixels) at 24/25/30/50/60 (Hz).

    2. Compatible HDR signals:

    • 4K/60p (60 Hz) 4:4:4 supports up to 8bits

  • What type of connections on the projector supports HDR10/HLG?
  • The projector will automatically detect HDR10/HLG and display compatible signals from sources connected to HDMI (HDCP2.2).
  • How do I connect a Fire Stick or Roku stick to the projector?
  • Check out the following information to learn more. 1. Plug the Fire TV / Roku Stick device into the projector's outside HDMI port. 2. Plug one end of the USB cable into your Fire TV / Roku Stick, and connect the other end of the USB cable to the power adapter. Then plug the power adapter into an electric outlet.
  • How to upgrade the new firmware for better input lag of the projector?
  • Please follow the instructions below.

    1. Prepare a USB flash driver and format the USB to FAT32.

    2. Download the new firmware from the BenQ website (Support-> Software & Driver -> Firmware) and save it to your USB.

    3. Make sure to plug in the AC power for a stable power supply. (DO NOT remove AC power while upgrading)

    4. Plug the USB into the projector's Type-A port.

    5. Press the “Projector Menu” button on the remote control.
