BenQ Announces Its First 3LCD HD Projection System

Feature Rich Projector with HQV™ Offers Bright and Natural HD Images for Gamers, Home Theater Aficionados and Business Users

BenQ unveils its first HD ready, 3LCD projector with Hollywood Quality Video (HQVTM) video processing. Featuring a host of new projection technologies that deliver native 720P resolution, high definition images in a bright and natural picture. The projector boasts both horizontal and vertical lens shifting capabilities and professional digital HDMI AV input for the best imagery possible.

BenQ achieves a superior picture that is easy on the eyes, by using three LCD’s to crisply reproduce bright and vivid natural images. Each LCD is dedicated to a primary color that together creates a full 1.07 billion-color palette. Superior gray scale in dark areas enables more natural color gradations. Through its high light efficiency, the projector generates less heat and costs less to run.

“Both professional and savvy consumers are demanding high definition, natural looking video for all types of uses from business meetings to watching their favorite video at home. The W500 features Hollywood Quality Video (HQVTM) that enhances video imagery and removes artifacts through new video processing technology, delivering the best image quality regardless of the source," stated Dumas Chen, BenQ USA Product Manager.

HQV processing represents the most advanced de-interlacing technique available: a true pixel-based motion-adaptive approach. With HQV processing, motion is identified at the pixel level rather than the frame level. While it is technically impossible to avoid discarding pixels in motion during de-interlacing, HQV processing is careful to discard only the pixels that would cause combing artifacts, and negatively impact picture quality. Therefore, video is displayed with the maximum resolution available creating the best picture possible for viewing.

The ultimate solution for demanding gamers and other professional video users, the BenQ W500 is equipped with a Dynamic IRIS, 1100 lumens and a 5000:1 aspect ratio. The throw ratio of the projector is a large 100” at 10.8 feet.
