Full HD Image Quality in Golf Sims
For midrange and higher-end systems with larger impact screens, Full HD is often used and remains popular. WUXGA has both a higher resolution with 2.3 million pixels and a 16:10 aspect ratio that enables a taller image that’s closer to the floor, allowing users to enjoy greater space and flexibility for swing positions. Despite that, clear advantages of Full HD 1080P include universal native support for the resolution and sharp visuals with no scaling or processing, which cause blur and lag. This makes 1080P perfect for golf simulation, Full HD movies, and gaming.
Vivid Clarity in Bright Ambient Environments
Golf simulation screens are typically larger than a home theater screen, so you will need a brighter projector for the best simulation experience to ensure your picture doesn’t get washed out. The brighter your space, the more lumens you’ll need to outshine environmental lighting. In addition, most launch monitors require enough light in the hitting area to be able to see the movement of the ball to help calculate how far you hit. Projectors with at least 4000 lumens provide users bright projection that fills a typical 13 foot or wider impact screen while delivering excellent image quality.
Easy Maintenance with Laser technology
A laser is the preferred projector light source. Lasers last the life of the projector and are essentially maintenance free while offering instant on/off capability with no annoying warm up or cool down.
Stay bright
Laser projectors deliver consistently bright images for a lifespan of over a decade in a golf simulator setting, and are much brighter than a similarly rated lamp-based projector year over year. A projector lamp with 4000 hours of lamp life loses brightness after each hour of use until it reaches 50% brightness, when a costly lamp replacement is needed. A laser projector also loses brightness, but at an exponentially slower rate.
Hassle-free performance
When a lamp goes out on a projector, golfing stops until you get a new one. With a laser projector, the module is rated for 20,000 hours of life, enabling you to concentrate on your approach shot rather than worry about needing to buy another lamp. Also, all BenQ DLP projectors are filter-free, and our laser projectors are IP5X certified (just like an Apple Watch) to ensure they will not be compromised by dust over time. Just set them up and concentrate on your game instead of on figuring out how to climb a ladder to clean a filter.
Instant on and off
When you’re ready to show off a new setup to your buddies you don’t want to wait until the lamp gets to be bright enough to start swinging. Laser projectors turn on in just a few seconds and turn off quickly when you’re done.
Cost of lamp replacement: buy right or buy twice
A replacement lamp can cost you as much as $500 plus installation. It’s not a matter of IF it will need to be replaced, but WHEN. A laser projector with a 20,000-hour life will look much brighter than a lamp projector after 3000 hours of usage, and long term turns out much more sensible cost-wise.
Installation Notice
- The distance between the hitting area and screen in your golf simulator should be at least 6-7ft and can be up to 14ft or more. The tee to screen distance is a balance between immersion, reducing impact screen bounceback, and allowing maximal accuracy from your launch monitor.
- Throw ratio is the ratio of throw distance (the distance from projector to screen) to horizontal image width. On a projector with a throw ratio of 1.1, for every 1 foot of image width, the projector needs to be 1.1ft away from the screen. So to project a horizontal screen size of 14ft, for example, you’d need to mount the projector 15.4ft from the screen.
