Inside SkyTrak GCC’s Most Premium Custom Golf Simulator Installation

Facility name：
Residential Golf Simulation & Multisports Entertainment

Location：
Private Residence, Dubai, UAE

How BenQ’s LK936ST 4K Laser Short-Throw Projector helped transform a private residence in Dubai into a premium golf and multisport experience.

For golf enthusiasts, a home simulator is more than a place to practise a swing. It can become a space for entertainment, training, competition, and quality time with family and friends.

For one private residence in Dubai, SkyTrak GCC set out to create exactly that, a premium golf and multisports simulator suite designed to deliver the performance of a professional practice facility while fitting seamlessly into an elegant private home.

At the centre of the installation is the BenQ LK936ST 4K Laser Short-Throw Golf Simulator Projector, paired with the SkyTrak MAX launch monitor and TruGolf MultiSport Arcade.

The result is an immersive, highly customised simulator room that combines golf performance, entertainment, and premium interior design.

The brief was ambitious: create a dedicated simulator that could perform like a professional practice facility without compromising the look and feel of a premium private residence.

According to Darragh Morrissey, Head of Commercial Sales & Operations at SkyTrak GCC, the project represented the company's most premium installation to date.

“The brief was a space that performs like a proper practice facility but feels like a private members’ lounge. I think we’ve achieved that.”

Rather than simply installing equipment into an existing room, SkyTrak GCC designed the environment around the complete experience.

Every element from the acoustic treatment and lighting to the projector placement and AV integration, was considered as part of the overall design.

A Premium Environment Designed Around the Player

The room's interior immediately sets it apart from a conventional home simulator.

Bespoke leather acoustic panels cover the walls and ceiling, arranged in a staggered pattern to add depth and character to the space. Beyond their visual impact, the panels help absorb impact noise and reflections, creating a more controlled acoustic environment.

Recessed spotlights positioned around the hitting area further reinforce the experience, directing attention towards the golfer and the immersive projection screen.

“The golfer and the screen are the focus, and everything else frames them.”

This approach allowed the simulator to function not just as a technology installation, but as an integrated part of the home's entertainment environment.

For a premium simulator, visual performance was a critical part of the brief.

SkyTrak GCC selected the BenQ LK936ST, a 4K laser short-throw projector designed specifically for golf simulation environments.

The projector delivers detailed, high-resolution visuals while its short-throw design allows it to be positioned close to the projection screen — an important consideration in simulator environments where space, golfer positioning, and shadow management all matter.

The LK936ST was ceiling-mounted just behind the hitting area, keeping it out of the golfer's direct line of sight while helping minimise shadows during play.

“The short-throw element matters a lot in a simulator. We’ve ceiling-mounted it just behind the hitting area, so it’s well out of the golfer’s eyeline and the throw angle keeps shadowing to a minimum at address.”

4K Detail for an Immersive Golf Experience

With golf simulation, the quality of the projected image directly contributes to the sense of immersion.

The LK936ST's 4K resolution provides detailed course visuals, allowing players to see fairways, greens, hazards, and surrounding environments with clarity.

Its laser light source also provides a long-lasting alternative to traditional lamp-based projection, helping maintain consistent brightness over extended use while eliminating the need for regular lamp replacement.

“Colour, sharpness, brightness, it holds up even with the lights on.”

For a premium residential installation designed as a long-term investment, this combination of image quality, laser reliability, and installation flexibility made the LK936ST a natural fit.

The visual experience is complemented by the SkyTrak MAX, which provides the data and analysis behind every shot.

Positioned discreetly on the hitting mat, the launch monitor captures detailed shot information, giving golfers insight into their performance from ball flight through to club delivery.

Following installation and calibration, the homeowner put the system through an extensive test across the golf bag.

“He’s a keen golfer and knows his numbers, so he went through the bag checking the data against what he’d expect to see. He was genuinely impressed with how accurate and consistent it was right from the first session.”

The SkyTrak ecosystem also adds depth beyond individual shot tracking, with course play, practice modes, skills challenges, shot analysis, and progress-tracking features.

This means the simulator can support different experiences, from focused practice sessions to full rounds with family and friends.

A key objective of the installation was to ensure that the room could be enjoyed even when nobody was playing golf.

The addition of TruGolf MultiSport Arcade expands the simulator beyond golf, offering 14 sports and games designed for immersive entertainment.

With a simple change of experience, the room can transition from a dedicated golf practice environment into a family entertainment space.

“A simulator room should earn its keep every day, not just when someone wants to hit balls.”

This flexibility makes the room accessible to a wider audience, including children, guests, and family members who may not play golf.

The installation also includes twin wall-mounted displays positioned on either side of the simulator bay.

These additional screens allow players and coaches to review swings and access supplementary information without interrupting the main golf simulation experience.

As a result, the primary projection remains focused on the course while additional displays provide useful viewing angles for analysis and coaching.

The combination of immersive projection, launch-monitor data, and supplementary displays creates a flexible environment that can support both recreational play and more structured practice.

One of the defining characteristics of the project was the level of integration involved.

SkyTrak GCC managed the installation as a complete solution, including:

• Site survey and planning
• MEP coordination
• Simulator enclosure construction
• AV integration
• Acoustic treatment
• Projector installation
• Technology integration
• System calibration

This approach ensured that the technology was integrated into the room from the beginning rather than added as an afterthought.

“Every room we build is designed around the space, not squeezed into it.”

The result is a simulator that combines technology and interior design into one cohesive environment.

The Result: A Private Golf and Entertainment Destination

The completed installation delivers a premium simulator experience designed around the homeowner's lifestyle.

The BenQ LK936ST provides the high-resolution visual foundation, while SkyTrak MAX delivers detailed golf performance data and TruGolf MultiSport expands the room into a wider entertainment experience.

Together, the technologies transform a dedicated room within the residence into a versatile destination for:

Golf Practice
Detailed shot data and course simulation for focused practice.

Golf Entertainment
Immersive rounds and challenges for family and friends.

Multisport Gaming
14 sports and games through TruGolf MultiSport.

Swing Analysis
Additional displays support review and coaching.

Family Entertainment
An experience designed for golfers and non-golfers alike.

For SkyTrak GCC, the project demonstrates what is possible when premium technology, bespoke design, and careful installation come together.

“It shows what’s possible when premium technology and proper design come together.”

Building the Future of Golf Simulation in the GCC

SkyTrak GCC has evolved from supplying individual golf simulation products to delivering complete, bespoke simulator environments.

The Dubai installation represents this broader approach: designing the room around the customer's space, requirements, and lifestyle rather than simply fitting equipment into a predetermined environment.

For BenQ, the project demonstrates the role that high-performance projection can play in creating immersive golf simulation environments — from private residences and entertainment rooms to commercial venues.

With the right combination of projection, simulation technology, AV integration, and room design, a golf simulator can become much more than a practice facility.

It can become an experience.
