About PGI

The PGI Group is a globally recognized metal expert with operations extending across the Middle East, far East, South East, Europe and Africa. PGI today is one of the vital links for many national and international metal manufacturers and foundries in the recycling industry.

With high-quality products and efficient customer service, PGI is a key raw material supplier for all metal needs for over 2 decades, with more than 200 employee assets at multiple locations.

Shifting All Meetings from Conference Room to Online Meeting Rooms

With the pandemic bringing about a shift to remote working and a stop to almost all business travel, PGI saw a sharp rise in their number of video conferences. Almost every meeting with teammates, partners or external customers required video conferencing, and while a group of two or three people could use personal devices, larger meeting groups needed a more collaborative solution to keep communications efficient and productive.

The meeting room at PGI was already using a projector in their meeting room, but it was not equipped for video conferencing.

Another challenge was the outdated hardware. Their existing projector was low-resolution, and required frequent maintenance and bulb changes. It didn’t have sufficient brightness for the meeting room environment, and the cable connection on the projector got off frequently.

Additionally, in the absence of wireless projection, users had to plug in their personal devices when they wished to present, leading to a lot of cable clutter.

The outdated projector was also difficult to set up, and caused technical issues when there were multiple presenters. PGI often required an IT technician's support every time their top management and business partners held a meeting. In some instances, the IT team had to stay during the whole meeting because glitches continued to happen. This led to increasing operating costs on a product that was creating more problems than it solved.

Adding the Right Video Conferencing Solution to the Equation

Given that PGI’s network of experts, partners and customers were spread out across the globe, video conferencing had become a crucial aspect of their communication strategy. Hence they were looking to upgrade to a smart video conferencing solution that would enable collaborative and productive meetings - now and in the future.

After consulting PGI and understanding their challenges, the BenQ Middle East team introduced the Android-based Wireless Smart Projector EX600. With a range of smart features and easy set-up, the IT teams realised that this was the ideal and cost effective choice for them.

Abhijeet Nair - IT Manager at PGI says, “We were looking for video conferencing solutions to conduct the internal meetings remotely, due to the pandemic. To tackle this issue, we almost finalized some expensive video conferencing solutions suggested by another vendor. But when we saw BenQ team’s demo, we immediately became convinced and gave our nod to BenQ Wireless Smart Projector. Now we frequently do video conferencing with our partners as well as the internal team.”

Apart from solving their current challenges, this setup helped them make their meetings more collaborative, interactive, and productive for everyone. In fact, PGI is so impressed by the performance of the BenQ Smart Projector EX600 that they suggested BenQ approach their other group companies as well.

Experiencing Seamless Online Meetings & Video Conferencing

With the BenQ Wireless Smart Projector EX600 in place, PGI was able to transform its video conferencing experience. Here’s what PGI found to be extremely beneficial:

Hassle-free video conferencing with internal and external stakeholders

Video conferencing is the ‘new normal’ in the current situation, more so for a global team like PGI.

A smart video conferencing solution, one that allowed easy presentation and collaboration without frequent IT support, was a priority. And they found BenQ Wireless Smart Projector to be a great choice for that.

Now they are frequently video conferencing with their partners as well as the internal team using the product, without the need to involve multiple devices.

Wireless mirroring

As a modern company that frequently has visitors for presentations, PGI was no stranger to bundles of cables extending from the backsides of projectors. Internal brainstorming sessions also meant everybody wanting to share something from their mobile phones, iPads or laptops. And they had to plug in their devices to the projector in order to do that.

All that changed when BenQ demonstrated that any smart device or laptops can mirror anything to the big screen, no wires involved. They felt amazed as they didn’t expect that one projector could provide so many functions and flexibility. And now with BenQ EX600 Smart Projector, their meetings and discussions are more fruitful than before.

Plug and play any format of files with a USB

Before the BenQ Smart Projector, presenters had to send their PowerPoint files to someone before the meeting, and deliver their presentations using the on-site computer. This old-fashioned way of doing things was labor-intensive and lacked flexibility.

After upgrading to BenQ Smart Projector with the accurate plug-and-play USB system that requires no software or drivers, PGI conference rooms now allow presenters to use their own laptops for presentations. Simply plug the USB in it, press the button, and present. By allowing multiple users to prepare their materials on their laptops and even play files with a USB drive, BenQ Smart Projector has significantly streamlined their meetings and improved the overall quality of service that PGI provides.

X-Sign Broadcast - Broadcasting welcome message or any information without interrupting the meeting

Another exciting feature for PGI was the X-Sign Broadcast application on BenQ Smart Projector. In the past, someone had to enter the meeting room, interrupt the meeting, and give the message in case of an emergency. Now they could send welcome messages into the meeting room remotely, wish someone happy birthday or send congratulatory messages.

The IT manager mentioned that recently PGI held a meeting with external partners, and wanted to inform everybody about the lunch venue and time. The IT team sent messages via X-Sign Broadcast to inform everyone, and the management was pleased to see the use of new technology.

More Collaborative and Interactive Meetings for PGI

PGI is now equipped to deliver a fully modern, streamlined meeting experience to the internal team and its business partners - whether they happen in-house or remotely. BenQ’s wireless smart projectors provide pristine image quality that makes video conferencing a super smooth experience. It also delivers fantastic flexibility with easy wireless mirroring, USB plug-and-play, an X-Sign Broadcast.

Needless to say, the team no longer faces issues with tangled cables, device disconnection or technical glitches. The global team is able to connect and collaborate easily with a video conferencing experience that keeps meeting simple, streamlined and highly productive.
