Australia, February 2012
: It may be the time for New Year’s Resolutions, but BenQ’s decision to label their entire product range with new ecoFACTS
labels in 2012 is simply another demonstration of the company’s continuing commitment to protect the planet and pursue the highest level of corporate environmental sustainability, globally. ecoFACTS
declares BenQ’s greatest efforts on the replacement of hazardous substances, material selection, packaging design, and importantly, clearly communicates to the consumer the energy-saving design incorporated in the product maximising efficiency and saving the customer money long-term through reduced power consumption.
From 2012, ecoFACT
green labels will clearly indicate eco-design and eco materials adopted in all products in BenQ’s range.
As a global corporate brand, BenQ has been working towards a greener future for some time, and are proudly paving the way for other manufacturers to adopt a similar strategy to ensure environmental stability. It has now accumulated over 150 green certificates from major countries, including Energy Star and EPEAT (gold and silver) from the United States of America, TCL from Sweden, PC3R from Japan, Energy Conservation Certificate from China, and from Taiwan, the Environmental Protection Certificate, Power Consumption Certificate, Carbon Footprint Label and EPD.
Said general manager for BenQ Australia, Chee F. Chung, “The use of toxic materials is strictly controlled and where possible, toxic parts are replaced by eco-friendly components in our manufacturing process. Eco packaging and recycling practices are a focus for BenQ, with many of our products now incorporating more than 95% recycled materials.
“Today, BenQ continues to enhance its corporate social responsibility implementation, as it strives to be recognised as a green brand and a green enterprise, as well as a leader of sustainable development of tomorrow,” said Chung. ecoFACTS labelling:
Designed to clearly indicate the eco design and eco materials adopted in the manufacturing process, these special labels contain three major subjects:
- Energy saving and carbon production
- Hazardous substances control
- Eco packaging and recycling
Continues Chung, “Through technological innovation, BenQ adhere to using power supply with high-efficiency and setting the goal of energy efficiency while developing products to reduce carbon emissions. Through energy efficient products, we provide consumers with better ways to save energy and reduce carbon emissions, so that everyone can do their part to protect the environment.
We take this stance very seriously, and promote a corporate culture of social responsibility not only within the products that we manufacture but in the way our company operates and the staff that we employ. We have instigated office regulations and self-inspections for our employees to establish energy saving offices, and since 2008, our employees have planted more than 800,000 trees in the neighbourhood of our plants around the world,” she said.
