In today’s classrooms, teachers use BenQ Boards to present slides, videos, and notes interactively. But as lessons grow more dynamic, many educators want extra space to keep multiple materials visible—just like they once had on wide blackboards.

Teaching Without Limits

At UAE University, professors were used to wide blackboards that offered plenty of space to explain concepts, compare ideas, and keep multiple notes visible at once. As classrooms transitioned to interactive displays, educators sought to maintain the same flexibility in a digital format by connecting a single Windows PC to two BenQ Boards placed side by side.

The Challenge

Initially, connecting a Windows PC to two BenQ Boards seemed simple. The HDMI and touch cables were set up, but the Windows system could not distinguish between the two boards. As a result, touch signals became misaligned: when a teacher tapped on one display, the input would appear on the other.

Teachers had to recalibrate or reset input sources after every PC reboot, which wasted class time and disrupted lessons.

The Customised Solution

Instead of providing a temporary fix, BenQ partnered with the university’s IT team to develop a permanent solution. Through several months of collaboration—including remote calls, on-site testing, and firmware updates—BenQ engineers developed a customised firmware that allowed Windows PCs to recognise each panel as a separate device.

The result was a seamless teaching experience: no more recalibration and no more lost time. Professors can walk into class, turn on the displays, and start teaching immediately with a quick, easy setup on their Windows PC.

How to use Dual Screen

With BenQ’s dual screen solution, teaching becomes more versatile:

  • Extend Windows across two panels – Teachers can display slides on one panel while researching or annotating on the other, making lessons more dynamic.

FAQ: Can I use InstaShare 2 extend mode to mirror my PC on two BenQ Boards?

No. InstaShare 2 supports sharing from a PC to one BenQ Board at a time. If you need to mirror or extend across two boards simultaneously, Dual Screen is the right solution.

Why It Matters

Case studies like the UAE University’s customised firmware help BenQ identify new ways to enhance our products. Building on these insights, BenQ introduced the Dual Screen feature in the latest RP and RM04 series.

Teachers can now open slides, YouTube, and other online resources directly on the BenQ Board, without needing a computer. Educators can display different materials at the same time—such as a presentation on one screen and a video or notes on the other—enabling them to present multiple streams of information side by side. This makes it easier to explain concepts, compare examples, and showcase student work without switching windows or interrupting the lesson flow.

By responding to real classroom challenges, BenQ continues to deliver practical, reliable, and customised solutions that empower teachers to teach their way.
