What is the difference between HW calibration and SW calibration?
SW calibration (software calibration) adjusts graphics card output while HW calibration (hardware calibration) enables adjustment of the LUT (Lookup Table) in the monitor which gives more accurate colours.
Why is the contrast ratio lower than the claimed value following the result of a measurement?
This is a normal phenomenon for monitors calibrated at the factory. Contrast ratio is luminance of the brightest colour (white) to that of the darkest colour (black). Due to factory calibration procedure, a panel's white point needs to be adjusted to standard 6500K and thus reduces the maximum brightness of the particular unit. As a result, the contrast ratio becomes lower than claimed.

Why do colours in websites look overly vivid with my SW monitor?
Colors of websites are usually defined by sRGB (Standard RGB) color space with limited color range. However, SW monitors are capable of displaying extended color range to match the actual colors in nature. Therefore, if the original image or content is set to sRGB color space, it will be displayed more vividly on SW monitors. Users can switch to sRGB color mode on SW monitors to show images with sRGB color space.

We also want to inform you that BenQ’s display products include lead that can be found on internal PCBA components. For this reason, BenQ, as well as other leading electronics companies, have enforced the required caution labeling, with the fact that electronic components are generally internal to consumer level products, so the potential for consumer exposure to component surfaces is low, and the potential to reach specified exposure levels for the listed substances is even lower. To eliminate the chance of exposure to any hazardous substances, please do not attempt to disassemble your display product and try to repair the PCBA components yourself.
Nevertheless, we want to assure you that customer safety and health when using our products are our first priority. If you still have concerns or questions, please contact your local BenQ customer care team for further assistance.

How can I adjust display settings in Mac OS for BenQ PD/SW series monitors?
Do I need to install the WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs) driver in Windows for my BenQ monitor? Is there an updated version of the WHQL driver?
Microsoft pre-installs all relevant certifications and drivers for BenQ monitors in Windows.
It is not necessary to install any driver in a Windows desktop or notebook, as BenQ monitors are plug & play displays.
If there is no image on the screen, make sure your graphics card is activate and uses the latest driver version. Unlike monitors, graphics cards and adapters are not always plug & play.
BenQ only puts one ICC profile in the WHQL driver which can be downloaded from BenQ's official website, and is fine-tuned for the color space of the native panel. In general, the ICC profile won’t be updated unless the panel model is changed.
To follow user manual instructions to install a WHQL driver, the ICC profile (.icm file) will be applied in Windows on your PC.
After that, the color space of the native panel will be identified by your desktop or notebook.
